It may not be Breast Cancer Awareness month-but schedule your Mammogram Today! 

For some people getting a mammogram can bring about anxiety and fear. I lost my beautiful mom to breast cancer when she was 49 years old, and for me the thought of getting a mammogram was always so overwhelming, that I would prolong going- which  is the worst thing someone can do. A few years ago, my good friend Angela convinced me to go to Breastlink in Tarzana. The staff was wonderful and kind and my friend even came with me for moral support. I even did genetic testing, which is way more affordable than you think, and worked with their patient navigator to help ease my fears and anxiety. 

I now make sure to go every year for my mammogram and I’m so thankful to Dr Jason Mckellop.

Dr. McKellop  who is the Medical Director of Breastlink Women’s Imaging Tarzana and is a board certified radiologist with fellowship training in breast imaging. Each year Dr. McKellop now reads my mammograms, and calls me with the results.  This year, I even did Enhanced Breast Cancer Detection(EBCD). EBCD is a RadNet program combining AI with mammography to improve early cancer detection. It helps radiologists identify subtle abnormalities, potentially finding 21% more cancers while reducing false alarms. EBCD is FDA-cleared, requires no extra patient time or radiation, and is currently available in select locations. It was a $40 dollar charge to have it added at check in-giving me additional peace of mind.

I am thankful to say, my mammogram has come back negative once again.  I thank God for Breastlink, the staff, and Dr McKellop, who they kindly call Superman around the office.  So, this year as you schedule your next appointment, or if you don’t know where to go-Breastlink facilities are in many cities in California and Arizona.  So-make your appointment today.
