After a humiliating night for Smith he took to Instagram to say, “I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be…”

Will Smith is apologizing in front of the world to Chris Rock after the star slapped the comedian in the face Sunday night at the Oscars. The incident occurred Sunday night after the comedian made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s hair, saying in part, “Jada, I love ya. G.I. Jane 2, can’t wait to see ya.”

Last night, Smith, wrote a a regretful statement on Instagram, admitting he was wrong for slapping Rock, onstage at the Academy Awards 2022.

“Violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive. My behavior at last night’s Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable. Jokes at my expense are a part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally,”

Smith Said

Smith publicly apologized to Chris Rock “I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be,” he continued, which was the first time the Oscar winner directly apologized to Rock. “There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness.”

He went on to say, “I would also like to apologize to the Academy, the producers of the show, all the attendees and everyone watching around the world. I would like to apologize to the Williams Family and my King Richard Family,” the actor continued. “I deeply regret that my behavior has stained what has been an otherwise gorgeous journey for all of us. I am a work in progress.”

Will the Academy revoke his award..we will have to wait and see.

Will Smith won the 2022 SAG Award for outstanding performance by a male actor in a leading role on Sunday night. The event took place at The Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California.

Smith, 53, was up against other incredible actors, including Benedict Cumberbatch for The Power of the Dog, Denzel Washington for The Tragedy of Macbeth, Andrew Garfield for Tick, Tick… Boom!, and Javier Bardem for his role in Being The Ricardos.

Smith won for his role in King Richard, where he played the father of Venus and Serena Williams. The film is based on their true story and follows the story of how Richard Williams was determined to have his daughters’ names written down in history.

Will Smith cried while stating this win is “one of the greatest moments” of his career. “Richard Williams is a dreamer like no one you’ve ever known. He has a power of belief that borders on insanity and sometimes tips over the border, which is absolutely necessary to take something from impossible to possible.”

Before ending his speech, Smith shouted out the Williams family. “Venus, Serena, the Williams family, you entrusted me and our group with your story. You didn’t agree to put your name on it until you saw the final project. I get that, I get that. That’s cool. That’s real because we be messing stuff up sometimes,” Smith joked.

Venus, 41, was the only one in attendance for the ceremony. Both sisters agreed to act as executive producers on the film, but before they agreed to put their name on it, they requested the screening that Smith referenced in his speech. In an interview, Will Smith said that screening was “the worst two hours of my life,” but “they were a mess with tears, and they loved it.
