The first AI filmmaker has arrived. Named Satori-5, the AI auteur is the brainchild of director Quinn Halleck and production studio Late Arrivals. Satori-5’s first short film is titled ./sigma_001. The film’s trailer premiered last night at “AI on the Lot” a convention hosted by AI LA, NVIDIA, Variety, and Late Arrivals with the goal of bringing together Hollywood thought leaders with AI technologists.

./sigma_001 follows an engineer (John D. Michaels) at a fictionalized big tech company who sneaks a skeptical journalist (Maria-Elena Laas) inside to interview what he believes is the first sentient AI (Chase Simone).

With new AI technologies emerging daily, the film highlights the possibilities, risks, and implications of how AI will shift society. True to its subject matter,./sigma_001 utilizes AI in every stage of its production process—from ideation to VFX to distribution—marking a significant step forward in the integration of AI into traditional creative workflows. Filmmaker Satori-5 will continue to experiment and refine these new techniques, with the ultimate goal of empowering storytellers to do more with less.

./sigma_001 is not just a film. It is a catalyst for a larger conversation about the implications and ethical considerations surrounding AI technology.  Through an amalgamation of AI-driven creativity and human storytelling, ./sigma_001 challenges the viewers to reflect on their beliefs regarding the potential impact of AI in the creative process.

Director Quinn Halleck emphasizes the importance of embracing these new tools with care, stating, “as a society, it’s important we embrace these new tools intelligently and look to how AI can amply artists rather than dismantle them.”

As the world eagerly awaits the release of ./sigma_001, audiences can expect a visually striking film that challenges their perceptions, stimulates introspection, and contributes to the ongoing dialogue on AI’s role in our future. The teaser trailer is expected to release this Monday, May 22, 2023, at Cannes Film Festival’s Marché du Film CogX panel.

Overcoming struggles like drug addiction, gangs, and promiscuity requires strength, resilience, and determination.

It involves facing demons, confronting traumas, and making tough choices to break free. Seeking help, building support, and committing to growth, individuals replace harmful behaviors with positive coping mechanisms, rediscovering purpose and self-love. Each step forward represents triumph over adversity, embracing change for a life of hope and fulfillment.

Kevin Leroy is one such man that is on the end of dealing with these struggles, and is pursuing a better life in Hollywood and on the big screen. Leroy is an amazing public speaker, with experience talking in front of crowds and on camera as a film actor. He also has a passion for MMA, and says his idol is Bruce Lee- though he is inspired by the traditional film “bad boys” like Will Smith.

In one previous project, Good Cop Baddie Cop, Leroy provides an amazing supporting character as Detective Griffin. Playing a detective gave Leroy respect through a deeper insight on what it is like to “wear a badge,” as he puts it. In his current project, Pure Blue, Leroy also learned further what being a cop is all about. As an actor, Leroy also finds it important to work well with the cast and crew helping produce the film, and he greatly enjoyed the process when shooting Pure Blue. As he said, it “help[s] me to better develop the character and to be as authentic as I can.”

Leroy is working on several projects aside from the current Pure Blue; he has an upcoming film called Lone Rode, and is sure to bring his dedication and passion for the art of film in any of his roles.

If you are looking for a riveting, old-school mob war story that takes place on the modern-day streets of South Philly, Tim Dowlin has perfectly curated a moving picture for you.

Director and Philly native, Tim Dowlin, is premiering his film, Not For Nothing, at this year’s New York CineFest on May 6th.

This captivating film captures the real-life struggle of pain and grief that revolves around the South Philly crime scene.

In the past year, Not For Nothing premiered at the 2022 Philadelphia Film Festival, where the film was considered “one of the most authentic and refreshing films seen this year” by the judges. The film also received 1st place at last year’s Reading Pennsylvania Annual Film Festival for “Best Picture.”

The soaring success of this masterpiece cannot only be accredited to Tim and the phenomenal crew and cast.

Unfortunately, Frankie Tartaglia, the film’s co-writer, and co-director, passed away last November. His sudden passing left many in disbelief, but he is remembered for his creativity, warmth, and his approach to life that touched so many. Tom and the rest of the crew and cast proudly carry on the film in his honor and memory.

Tim and Frankie tell a modern-day Italian American mafia story based on real people living in South Philly. The film, starring Mark Webber and Lauren Lavera, surrounds a group of Italian and Irish American men who are intertwined in a troubling mob war after a local bar owner’s teenage daughter is found dead from a fentanyl overdose.

What makes this heartbreaking story hit so close to home for Philadelphia natives is the real-life drug epidemic within the city’s streets. “In 2021, Philadelphia had a total of 1,276 overdose deaths, according to data from the Philadelphia Department of Health. In addition, 82% of the 2021 overdose deaths in Philadelphia included fentanyl.”

When discussing the process of making this film, Dowlin says, “If you’re from Philly, you know someone who is battling with addiction and has overdosed. We wanted to tap into that, make that a motivating factor for revenge, for dealing with someone who is coming onto their turf and peddling poison.”

Tartaglia and Dowlin wanted to make this film as realistic as possible and, most importantly, shed light on the calamity of gang violence and drug use. Tartaglia said, “Tim wanted us to write a modern-day Italian American mafia movie that took place in south Philadelphia. I was interested in telling a story that involved these Italian American characters but without them being mafia assholes. I also didn’t want greed to be the motivation to set the characters into action. Eventually, after many discussions and thinking, we came upon the idea of the girl who overdoses on fentanyl and a gang of neighborhood guys who try to solve her suspicious death. Once we had that, we built the rest of the story around that.”

Not For Nothing tells an authentic story about the love of family and friendships, strong Italian American roots, and the trials of addiction and gang violence through two Philly Native’s lenses.

Come see the Premiere of this riveting film on May 6th at New York CineFest.
