After several bombs dropped from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex-their six-part Netflix series, Harry’s book, and Oprah interviews-it’s no wonder that every one of Harry and Meghan’s interactions with the Royal Family is scrutinized to the nines. From the late Queen’s passing to King Charles’s coronation, every move has become calculated step for these ex-Royals.

On May 6, 2023, Britain welcomed a new monarch with mixed opinions from everyday Brits and the Royal Family. Meghan, staying in California with her children, is prepared for Harry’s return to celebrate their son Archie’s fourth birthday. But, Harry was present to celebrate the occasion with the rest of the clan, with relentless paparazzi on him at all times.

Harry entered the cathedral behind his cousin, Princess Eugenie, husband Jack Brooksbank, and their father Andrew, all sitting in the same row. The Duke of Sussex was wearing a three-piece Dior suit complete with custom coattails, with military medals pinned to his chest.

A source has told People that Harry and the King are on good terms, and that Harry misses his home. But, he has settled in California with Meghan and his children, away from the chaos.

Princess Diana’s separation from Prince Charles in 1992 was the cause of mainstream speculation about what really was going on in that marriage. When it was revealed that Charles was cheating on Diana with longtime “friend” Camilla Bowles, the media had a heyday cracking into the prim and proper facade that a future king was supposed to present to his country.

Going back to the ’40s and ’50s, Princess Margaret (the late Queen Elizabeth II’s sister) fell in love with Peter Townsend. Princess Margaret, who was not yet 25 at the time, required marriage approval from her sister to marry a divorced man. So, the pair waited until the Princess was 25 to come to the final decision, and during that time an amendment to the Royal Marriages Act was made stating that Margaret could marry Peter if she was willing to give up her position in the royal line of succession. Ultimately, she did not want to, and the pair did not marry.

In 2005, photos of Prince Harry were leaked from a costume party where he was seen wearing a swastika armband. He was forced to issue a public apology, stating “It was a poor choice of costume and I apologize.” Seven years later, nude photos of him at a party in Las Vegas were leaked, reportedly taken during a game of strip billiards. The tabloids had their hands full of Prince Harry as a rebellious youngster.

Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, stepped back from the limelight of the royal family as his associations with Jeffrey Epstein came to the forefront of the public eye after his death. Also during this time, he continued to decline Virginia Roberts’ claims that she was forced to have sex with him three times from 1999 and 2002. Virginia Roberts continues to claim suit against the Prince to this day. As a result, in 2022, Prince Andrew’s military and royal patronages have been returned to Buckingham Palace and the Prince will no longer be engaging in public service.

The new image as the profile photo depicts King Charles, 73, staring straight ahead into the camera. All his military memorabilia is on full display. The image was taken in May 2020, at Balmoral Castle on the 75th anniversary of VE Day, when the Allied Forces accepted the Nazis’ surrender at the end of WWII.

As all the royals’ rankings changed, so did their profile pictures. The new Prince and Princess of Wales, Prince William and Princess Kate, share a laugh at the Cliffs of Moher in Ireland in their new profile photo. It was previously their profile photo on the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge page.

As the period of mourning ended, the Royal Family’s Twitter posted a tweet stating, “The period of Royal Mourning following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth has now ended. This account will continue to reflect the work of The King, The Queen Consort and other members of The Royal Family, as well as remembering the life and work of Queen Elizabeth.”

Queen Elizabeth won Today.com’s Photobomb of the Year in 2014, when she smiled for Jayde Taylor‘s camera.

Her smile behind the wire fence was perfect.

Using a Sword to Cut a Cake

At the Eden Project lunch, the Queen insisted that she use a ceremonial sword to cut the cake. After being told that there was a knife she could use, she said, “I know there is! But this is something that is more unusual.” Well said.

The Queen was also an accomplished driver, being a truck mechanic during WWII and loved driving Land Rovers at her Balmoral Estate in Scotland. In 1998, the then-Crown Prince Abdullah of Saudi Arabia visited the Queen for lunch at Balmoral, where she had the royal Land Rovers parked in front of the castle. After lunch, she invited him for a tour of the 50,000 acre estate where she personally drove him through the windy roads of the Scottish highlands.

The Prince became extremely nervous, and continuously asked the Queen to slow down and concentrate on the road. Also, at the time, it was illegal for women to drive in Saudi Arabia. She scared the daylights out of him.
