Backstreet Boys’ Brian Littrell Speaks Out to Correct ‘Erroneous’ Claims & Misinformation

On March 22nd, what began as an ordinary day quickly turned into the now widely discussed Brian Littrell viral incident, as the Brian Littrell situation spiraled into a media frenzy when a man named Kyle Gallagher encroached on his home and privacy before instigating a verbal altercation. The incident has since gone viral due to incorrectly reported information and heavily edited footage.

Brian Littrell Addresses Ongoing Harassment

“For more than two years, my family and I have faced what seems like daily harassment not just online, but in-person, all just because I want to protect my home and property from strangers wishing to do us harm,” said Littrell. “It’s taken an incredible toll in our life including  observing Easter to daily mental health, as the widely-circulated video edited out much of the content that showcased Mr. Gallagher’s provocation, amplifying only my words over his.”

In the salacious article originally published by People Magazine, the outlet claimed Littrell had used a ‘homophobic slur’ in responding to Kyle Gallagher, implying he had called the other man a discriminatory term. Additionally, the piece stated that Littrell drew the literal line in the sand that kicked off the argument, when in reality it had been created by Gallagher to make an inflammatory motion towards Littrell.

Most damaging of all was the use of a censored, heavily-cut down video of the incident, one that did not include evidence that proved that Gallagher was aware of Littrell’s presence, had made direct eye-contact, and then situated himself on the sand outside the home. The shared footage also axed Gallagher’s use of ‘gay’ in an insulting context, a moment that precedes Littrell’s own use of the word in retaliation.

Brian Littrell Speaks Out on Impact and Misrepresentation Following Viral Incident

Since the article’s initial release, it has been revised to better reflect the series of events, but for Littrell, the impact has already hit, with many readers likely unaware of the updated story and other publications leading with the erroneous information.

Littrell added, “I want to set the record straight: I hold no hatred for anyone of any gender, orientation, race, background… I truly have love for everyone. My use of the word ‘gay’ was simply repeating what was cruelly thrown in my face moments before, but the media has ignored this fact in order to better sell their story. I’m thankful towards all who have heard me out properly and see my perspective.”

“My family and I have been put in truly frightening and invasive situations, and the man on my property was clearly acting with the intent to provoke. His actions were unacceptable, and no family should be subjected to that kind of behavior- I will never stop fighting when it comes to protecting my family.”

Brian Littrell’s attorney, Peter Ticktin of The Ticktin Law Group, stated: “Mr. Littrell enjoys positive relationships with his neighbors. They share a common challenge: repeated trespassing by individuals who deliberately enter private property to provoke confrontation.”

Legal Response and Ongoing Concerns

“Mr. Littrell and his family purchased what they saw as their dream home, only to discover an ongoing pattern of trespassing and harassment targeting private property owners along their and their neighbors’ stretch of beach. These actions are not about public access, public beaches exist on both sides of the neighborhood and remain open and uncrowded. Instead, certain individuals appear intent on challenging the very concept of private property rights. Sexual orientation played no part in this incident- instead, we’d like to highlight the deeply-troubling reality that these incidents have been allowed to escalate due to a lack of enforcement by the local Sheriff’s office. Homeowners are entitled to safety and privacy on their own property, and Mr. Littrell is no exception.”
